Computer Science Summer Camps and Teacher Workshops

Searching the Web to Find Instructional Materials

Target Audience: K-12 Teachers who would like to learn technology to support their classroom teaching

Justification: This will give teachers the opportunity to earn continuing education credit and work toward the Texas Teacher Technology Competencies Certification.

Date: Wednesday, June 8, 2011 from 8:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Cost: $75 per person; includes lunch

This course is designed so that teachers will gain an understanding of the appropriate use of computers and other technology in instructional programming; ability to integrate the use of technology into the on-going instructional program; and ability to locate effective web sources which can be used to integrate the use of multimedia and the web to add content to your course.

Those successfully completing the course will be able to:

  1. Develop instructional software for use in the classroom.
  2. Use web search software to locate instructional material relative to specific grade level and content.
  3. Use the Internet for gathering and communicating information in the classroom.
  4. Discuss the use of multimedia for instruction.
  5. Gain practical experience in teaching using the computer.
