Course: GBU 321 – Information Technology

Catalog Description: An introduction to the technology used within the information cycle and its impact on organizational and personal productivity.

Prerequisites: None

Learning Objectives: Upon successful completion of the course, students should be able to:

  1. Discuss the importance of information and information technology within the total organization and the information society in general.

  2. Identify changes occurring in the information environment and the evolving roles played by knowledge workers as they interface with technology and organizational procedures.

  3. Describe the subsystems and current technologies which make up organizational information systems.

  4. Demonstrate a basic understanding of the analysis and design of information systems, with consideration of the human/social needs of the organization.

  5. Explain the critical role that information plays in competition, global positioning, and quality assurance.

  6. Investigate topics related to information technology, using various research channels.

  7. Communicate orally, visually, and in writing, topics related to the field of information technology.
