Course: GBU 461 – Information Management

Catalog Description: Theories, issues, and strategies related to the management of information as a corporate asset. Emphasis on strategic information planning, information access, computer-human interaction, data security, and electronic privacy.

Prerequisites: None

Learning Objectives: Students will:

  1. Develop an appreciation for information as an asset and issues related to this creation, ownership, protection, and dissemination.
  2. Understand the continual changes taking place in the information environment, including changes in technology, the worker base, organizational structures, and external constraints.
  3. Increase awareness of legal, ethical, and societal issues associated with information and its use.
  4. Explore information sources available on the electronic super highway.
  5. Apply effective Web communication principles in the creation of web pages.
  6. Exhibit competence in communicating information orally, visually, and in writing.
