Course: GBU 461 Information Management
Catalog Description: Theories, issues, and strategies
related to the management of information as a corporate asset.
Emphasis on strategic information planning, information access,
computer-human interaction, data security, and electronic
privacy.
Prerequisites: None
Learning Objectives: Students will:
- Develop an appreciation for information as an asset and
issues related to this creation, ownership, protection,
and dissemination.
- Understand the continual changes taking place in the
information environment, including changes in technology,
the worker base, organizational structures, and external
constraints.
- Increase awareness of legal, ethical, and societal issues
associated with information and its use.
- Explore information sources available on the electronic
super highway.
- Apply effective Web communication principles in the creation of web pages.
- Exhibit competence in communicating information orally, visually, and in writing.
