Catalog Description: - An overview of information systems including conceptual foundations, development, use, and impact on the organization.
Prerequisite: CSC 503 or equivalent and three (3) hours of management or equivalent
Course Objectives: The principal objective of this course is to enable students to evaluate and understand the role of information technology in contemporary organizations from an organizational and technical perspective. The student will also develop an understanding of information technology issues that arise in a rapidly changing technical and business environment.
Current Textbook: Applegate, Lynda M., Mcfarlan, F. Warren, and James L. McKenney, Corporate Information Systems Management: Text and Cases, (Chicago, IL: Irwin) (current edition.)
Journal and Trade Articles current to the required topics.
Evaluation: Student performance will be measured through essay exams and team assignments involving written and oral case presentations. The minimum number of exams will be a mid-term and a final. Other types of evaluation may be employed at the discretion of the professor.
