Graduate courses in Management, Marketing, and International Business are taken as part of the requirements in the Master of Business Administration (MBA) program and also may be taken by other graduate students who desire to obtain advanced knowledge in the respective areas. Management courses may be applied to a major or minor in management, and both management and marketing courses may be applied to a minor in general business. These MBA courses enable students to acquire knowledge and skills to enhance their capabilities for optimizing personal potential within their chosen career paths.
Management Major
While all MBA students obtain knowledge of the fundamentals of management, the
management major provides an opportunity to develop more specialized knowledge in one or
more areas of management. This is achieved by completing a total of 18 graduate
hours of management courses, including those required of all MBA students.
Management Minor
The objective of the graduate minor in management is to provide students with
either general or specialized knowledge of the subject according to individual needs.
This objective is satisfied by completing 9 to 15 hours of management courses
numbered 500 and above.
Masters students should be knowledgeable of:
MGT 522--Seminar in International Management
MKT 552--International Marketing Management, or
GBU 547--Legal Environment of International Business.
Selected areas of management that deserve specialized study for certain management activities but do not require detailed attention by all MBA students. This objective is fulfilled by successful completion of 9 hours from the following courses:
MGT 522--Seminar in International Management (if not taken as international business course noted above)
MGT 550--Executive Leadership
MGT 570--Management Problems in Employee and Labor Relations
MGT 573--Seminar in Human Resource Management
MGT 575--Advanced Graduate Studies
MGT 576--Advanced Graduate Studies
MGT 580--Quantitative Management Applications
Specialized areas of marketing that deserve specialized study for certain marketing activities but do not require detailed attention by all MBA students. This objective is fulfilled by successful completion of 3 or more hours from the following courses:
MKT 510--Strategic Marketing of Services
MKT 552--International Marketing Management (if not taken as international business course noted above)
MKT 575--Advanced Graduate Studies
MKT 576--Advanced Graduate Studies
